This Incredible Video Proves That Dolphins Are The Sheepdogs Of The Ocean

We humans have been pretty much the top of the heap, species-wise, for the past 200,000 years or so.

However, while humankind might be the most complex animal on the block, but we’ve only gotten this far by partnering up with some of our fellow critters over the course of millennia.

Our relationship with dogs is probably the most notable example of this kind of alliance; we ended up with this adorable and slightly useless fluffball thanks to thousands of years spent domesticating wolves and other wild canines as hunting and herding partners.

Of course, dogs are hardly the only animals that we’ve teamed up with over the years. Humans also work closely with ferocious rat catchers like this ferocious feline doing his part to protect the world from nefarious bubbles.

You might not find these partnerships particularly surprising; after all, cats and dogs are the two most popular types of pets, so it stands to reason that they would have some history with humanity. If you’re looking for a slightly more unusual case of animal-human camaraderie, look no further than Laguna, Brazil.

Over the course of generations, the fishermen of this small coastal town have developed an impressive, and surprising, connection with a group of local dolphins. Less of a familial bond between man and beast, these dolphins have instead become unlikely, fish-herding coworkers for the fishermen.

Check out the video below to learn more about Laguna’s incredible interspecies cooperation, and how the humans and dolphins communicate with one another! And if this incredible animal partnership astounded you, please SHARE to show the world this mysterious and beautiful collaboration!
